Homework

Homework at Berry Public School has been designed to:

            - Consolidate new learnt skills

            - Increase confidence and fluency in Reading

            - Help students develop self-motivating work patterns and routine

            - Strengthen home and school bonds

            - Support learning in the classroom

Our homework policy was updated in 2019 in consultation with our parents, students and teachers. 

We have created pages to support students in English and Mathematics.

  • Get your child involved in house chores

  • Write a shopping list – real or window shopping online to a budget
  • Exercise together
  • Menu plan
  • Cooking – following a recipe, measuring ingredients, learning about healthy foods.
  • Grow flowers/vegetables in your garden. Record their growth using photos or graphs.
  • Board games – uno, scrabble, monopoly, dominos, chess just to name a few favourites!  
  • Collecting/sorting/creating using leaves, sticks, feathers, flowers, shells recycled materials such as bottle tops, keys, paper.
  • Build using lego, blocks, magnetic blocks or recycled material (build a newspaper tower as tall as you can)!
  • Investigate your family tree together.
  •  Go for a day trip – visit museums, University of Wollongong Discovery Centre, libraries, beaches, Minnamurra Rainforest, Coast walk.
  • Learn a musical instrument
