District Athletics

Berry PS is the overall school winner of 2019.

Thursday 8th of August saw the half day carnival for high jump and 1500m at Shoalhaven High. Nine children attended and we have students who have made it to regional in these events.

On Friday the 16th of August nearly 500 children represented the fifteen schools from the local area at the Shoalhaven District Athletics Carnival at Shoalhaven High. Forty four students represented Berry Public School.  From the first 800m event students from Berry were striving to attain good results for themselves and their school. Many of the Berry students made it into the finals races or performed well in their respective field events.

The relay teams were in timed finals with the junior boys and senior girls both coming first. A great school effort especially when it was announced that in the U11 discus the record was broken by Taj Barrett who threw 30.03m breaking the previous distance by four metres

Our eight and nine year olds deserve a special mention too.

Congratulations to Gabriel Lombardi who was Junior Boys Champion. Special mention to Alec Redlich and Patrick O'Leary who both came third in their division and Stephen Alfano who came 5th. It was a great effort from these boys and all of Berry's competitors.

Well done and best of luck to those going to regional. Many of these students were at their first district carnival and they all ran strongly. Thank you to the parents for transporting children to the carnival.

The regional carnival will be held in Canberra on Friday the 13th of September. The district team will be announced as soon as it is finalised. It is usual that the first two places getters go through to regional (100m usually the first 3 placegetters). Some regional events do have qualifying marks or times. Details will be given out when I am notified.
