At the end of last term, our Girls PSSA hockey team played a thrilling game against Wollongong Public School at Unanderra hockey fields. Our team had very little experience playing the game but showed very promising skills and effort during training sessions at school.
We played a very close game – Wollongong were lucky to score the first goal after some amazing saves made by our goalie Phoebe. It was Berry’s turn to score next, with Ava relentlessly hitting the ball at the goals until she slipped it past the goalie. The determination was easy to see!
At the end of the second half the scores were locked 1-1, but we needed to gain a result. Extra time was called, and still no change in the score. More extra time was called, and still no result! We had dropped down to 7 players by this stage until unfortunately, and finally, Wollongong scored the golden goal.
Our Berry girls played exceptionally well and were so encouraging to one another and the opposition. Miss Henning was so proud to watch the girls play with enthusiasm and effort, as well as displaying such admirable teamwork!
